Would you tell someone who sacrificed everything for you that it was all for nothing? How Do I Tell Her is an interactive play about a young burnout confronting her younger self in the afterlife. Split into two versions—one who lived to age 19 and another to her mid-twenties—they are detained by Heaven’s authority after their guardian angel breaks destiny's laws. The angel’s actions, mysterious even to them, must be unraveled as they face interrogation by Heaven's representative.

Assisted by the washed-up Archangel of Death Michael, the two must delve into painful memories of trauma and self-destruction. Through these recollections, Heaven's mistakes surface, raising questions about destiny, justice, and agency. How can suffering be someone’s fate, and how do we justify rewriting destiny?

The audience, acting as the Heavenly Committee of Destiny, determines the fate of the characters with a final vote. They choose which memories to deconstruct and ultimately vote on the verdict. The play integrates technology, using a heart rate monitor as a “lie detector” to track the actors’ physiological responses, projecting them for interpretation. This immersive element bridges storytelling with audience engagement, challenging perceptions of justice, morality, and divine authority.

How Do I Tell Her examines whether justice requires perfection and if destiny is inherently cruel—or a construct to be challenged. The performance accommodates analog participation, ensuring seamless interaction regardless of technological barriers, and invites the audience to confront the complexities of morality, fate, and redemption.
